Our History
There was a great need to help the Portuguese community acquiring finance to expand their businesses, so facilities were established by SAPOR Finance, the first company in the group, with various banking institutions coming on board to help the community achieve their goals.
SAPOR Group Timeline
Our 23-member team came together to celebrate our 13 years in business. We laughed as we recalled starting with 2 staff members . . . and we were humble and proud to acknowledge that 16 of these team members have been with the company for more than 8 years! Thank you to our incredible team for hanging in there with us! The best is yet to come . . .
The SAPOR Group’s 30th Anniversary was celebrated with a wonderful gala event on 18th October 2017. Honored guests included Dr Segio Espadas representative for the AEICEP. Many of SAPOR Rentals’ active dealers received recognition and excellence awards.
Our proprietary Debit Order Collection system service was extended to our clients and we are now collecting R10 Million – Yes! Ten Million Rand! – per month for SAPOR Rentals and for our selected clients.
For the first time, SAPOR Rentals hits R100 Million of current active deals in the 2015 – 2016 fiscal year.
Our proprietary Debit Order Collection system now collects R1 million per month.
The Founders were Banif consultants from 2011 until the 2017 acquisition of Banif by Santander.
We launched our Private Equity Fund to change our business model from a brokerage service to an independent financial institution, capable of funding our own deals.
SAPOR Admin Services started out by developing our proprietary Debit Order Collection system for the exclusive use by SAPOR Rentals to collect rental installments from our clients.
This is a non-trading entity that owns our SAPOR House office building.
SAPOR Rentals started as a finance brokerage business, providing rental finance solutions for asset-based equipment such as photocopiers, telecommunications and surveillance systems.
The Founders were consultants for Caixa Geral de Depositos (CGD) from 1993 to 2011.
SAPOR Travel operated from 1992 to 2014.
SAPOR Real Estate (Pty) Ltd is a member of Estate Agents Board and ERL (East Rand Listings), providing services and assistance in the selling and purchasing of residential, commercial and industrial properties in the Gauteng Area. This was a fully operation real estate business from its inception in 1988 until 2010. Since then we have focused more on outsourcing to our network of real estate agents.
SAPOR Finance (Pty) Ltd was the first company in the group to be formed in 1987 by co-founders Raul Martins and Americo De Silva.
Initially they focused on the immigrant Portuguese community, assisting them in raising capital for their new businesses such as restaurants as well as arranging installment sale agreements for yellow metal products such as bulldozers, forklifts and other heavy duty machinery for the construction and engineering sectors.
